Description

Our handmade walnut and sycamore veneer oval inlay. The wood inlay comes in straight walnut veneer background that has been quartered, so the grain on each section meets in the middle. The marquetry inlay is in sycamore veneer pieces. All the veneers are 0.5mm thick. With the sycamore pieces, they have been shaded to create the shadow effect.

The overall oval size is 160mm long x 102mm high. This size includes the sycamore line going around the inlay but it doesn’t include the walnut veneer beyond the line. The marquetry inlay size is 105mm long x 75mm high.

The walnut and sycamore oval inlay is similar to our seaweed inlay range. The only difference here is the sycamore pieces have been shaded and are cut separate from the walnut background. Whereas with the seaweed inlays, the two veneers are cut one into the together leaving the fret saw gap. This type of inlay is often used on furniture especially chairbacks.

We have a seaweed inlay collection which is similar to this inlay. The Diamond Seaweed Inlay and the Narrow Seaweed Inlay, are also available. These 2 inlays have no shading on the pieces.
