These compass rose inlays are different to the other compass roses we make. The inner pieces are shorter, with the outer pieces being longer. The compass rose is made from sycamore and dyed black 0.5mm thick veneer. In total this compass rose inlay is made up of 32 pieces, each alternating veneer as it goes round. The first 16 pieces make up the inner star, with all points meeting in the middle. The outer section is made up of a further 16 pieces, each alternating. The outer pieces stop when they meet the inner section. As these compass rose inlays are round, the vertical and horizontal pieces will be the same width and height. They also can be mirror paired, for example if the black veneer starts at the top left side, on the next inlay we can start with the sycamore.
